About This Program
Wayanad, nestled in the lush Western Ghats of Kerala, is one of South India’s most captivating educational and eco-tourism destinations. Surrounded by mist-covered hills, dense forests, spice plantations, and rich tribal heritage, Wayanad serves as a living classroom where students can connect classroom concepts with real-world experiences. The region offers a unique blend of history, geography, biodiversity, environmental science, and cultural learning, making it an ideal destination for experiential education programs.
At Edakkal Caves, students step back in time to explore prehistoric rock engravings believed to date back thousands of years. These ancient carvings provide valuable insights into early human civilization, communication, and cultural evolution, encouraging curiosity about archaeology and history.
The journey continues into the wilderness at Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, a protected forest region rich in biodiversity. Students gain firsthand exposure to wildlife conservation, forest ecosystems, and the importance of ecological balance while observing native flora and fauna in their natural habitat.
At Banasura Sagar Dam, India’s largest earthen dam, students learn about sustainable water management, irrigation systems, hydroelectric power, and environmental engineering. The surrounding landscape also offers opportunities to appreciate the relationship between human development and nature conservation.
The experience concludes with the breathtaking beauty of Soochipara Waterfalls, where cascading waters, rocky terrains, and forest surroundings create an engaging environment to understand natural landforms, erosion, and geographical processes.
Through exploration, observation, and interactive learning, Wayanad inspires students to develop environmental awareness, critical thinking, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for India’s natural and cultural heritage.
