Day Trips

About This Program

This thoughtfully curated one-day experiential learning programme offers students a unique opportunity to explore Karnataka’s rich cultural, literary, and artistic heritage through immersive educational experiences at Melkote, a traditional artisan toy-making unit, and Janapada Loka. Designed to blend history, creativity, tradition, and hands-on learning, the programme encourages students to connect with India’s cultural roots while developing curiosity, appreciation, and creative thinking.

The journey begins at the renowned Sanskrit Research Institute in Melkote, where students will be introduced to the timeless legacy of Sanskrit literature, ancient Indian knowledge systems, philosophy, and traditional learning practices. Through guided interactions and educational sessions, students will gain insight into the importance of preserving classical languages, manuscripts, and scholarly traditions that have shaped Indian civilisation for centuries. The serene spiritual and historical ambience of Melkote further enhances the learning experience, offering students a deeper understanding of Karnataka’s cultural and religious heritage.

Students will then visit a traditional toy-making unit, where they will witness skilled artisans transforming simple raw materials into beautifully handcrafted toys using age-old techniques passed down through generations. This interactive experience provides valuable exposure to indigenous craftsmanship, sustainable practices, and the significance of preserving local art forms in a rapidly modernising world. Students will have the opportunity to observe the creative process closely, interact with artisans, and understand the patience, precision, and innovation involved in traditional handicrafts.

The programme continues with an enriching visit to Janapada Loka, Karnataka’s celebrated folk and cultural museum dedicated to preserving the state’s vibrant rural traditions and folk heritage. Through exhibits, artefacts, traditional architecture, folk music, costumes, and cultural displays, students will experience the diversity of Karnataka’s regional identities and community traditions. The immersive environment encourages students to appreciate the value of folklore, indigenous lifestyles, performing arts, and cultural storytelling as an integral part of society’s identity.

Throughout the day, students will participate in observation-based learning, reflective discussions, interactive activities, and collaborative engagement that make education both meaningful and memorable. The programme is carefully designed to foster creativity, cultural awareness, communication skills, teamwork, and respect for traditional knowledge systems while ensuring students enjoy an engaging and inspiring educational experience beyond the classroom.
